Family hike in Golden, CO

This year has been a little crazy to say the least.  Our jobs have both been very busy and most of our 'free time' revolves around Jason's training schedule for his ultrarunning.

On Friday May 22 he drove up to Breckenridge after work to get in some high altitude training.  He ran 10 miles Friday night and then ran in the snow on the ski resort itself Saturday before coming home Sat in time for dinner.

With his training done for the weekend, we had Sunday together as a family day, and took advantage of some rare sunlight to go hiking in Golden, CO.

The intention was to carry Ava and have Rachel walk the whole way.  Rachel hiked well for about 1 mile, and then faded.  She could probably hike 2 miles with some climbing but not more.  I think our hike was 4 miles and took us several hours.  We had a great time, but it was a longer and more adventurous day than we had intended.  If I was going to take both the kids hiking by myself, I'd stick to 1-2 miles for now.

Regardless, it was a beautiful hike and a terrific family day.
