Welcome Ava!

This blog is the 'clean' version containing the facts of our birth.  The next post will provide more emotion and detail for those who might be interested... In which case, skip this one.

July 4: parade, pancake breakfast with family in morning, dinner at our friend Sarah's in the evening. Watched fireworks from our bedroom window and then went to bed.

July 5
12:15am: wake up with some contractions, similar to previous weeks
1:00am: decide we are really in labor
3:00am: check into hospital
6:26am: it's a girl! Ava Stephanie Oliver. 20.5 inches, 8lbs 11oz, born naturally, face up, all is well with mom and babe.

Spend the day and night in the hospital.  Amazing staff. Great food.  Ate lots of it.  Ava passed all her testing and both mom and babe recovered well.  Visitors included sarah, who works at the hospital and had fed us the night before, rachel and nana who were very excited, and friends Julie and Patch who came friday evening.  Ava nursed throughout the night Friday and didnt sleep much.  Left Saturday morning in time to get home for lunch.

Rachel and Nana greeted us home with a beautiful sign.

We are all delighted and doing very well.  We are thrilled that the birth went so well and that Ava is so healthy and strong.

Thanks for all you support and best wishes.
